IV Sedation

Many patients feel anxious about oral surgery, often due to previous experiences. IV sedation provides a safe and effective way to undergo treatment in a relaxed state.

You remain conscious but deeply relaxed, with little or no memory of the procedure. It has been used safely in oral surgery for decades and is carefully tailored to each patient.

Sedation is particularly helpful for patients with dental anxiety, a strong gag reflex, a fear of injections, or longer complex procedures.

Before your Appointment

• Bring a responsible adult to accompany you home and stay with you for the remainder of the day
• Continue routine medications unless advised otherwise
• Eat only light meals and do not eat for 4 hours before your appointment
• Do not consume alcohol on the day of treatment
• Remove nail varnish and avoid wearing make-up

Recovery is usually smooth and monitored in our recovery area before discharge. Written post-operative instructions will be provided.
